How To Use The CLOUD NINE Wide Iron

So you’re on a mission to find the perfect straightener for your long, thick hair, and you’ve come across the CLOUD NINE Wide Iron. With those 1 ½ inch plates, it can look a little intimidating at first, but it’s packed with hair health benefits and cutting-edge technology that will set your styling routine apart from the rest.

Let’s take a closer look at the Wide Iron, learn how to use it, and discover some of the gorgeous styles it can help you achieve, so you can decide if it’s the right tool for you.

WHY CHOOSE A WIDE PLATE HAIR STRAIGHTENER?

Wide plate hair straighteners like the CLOUD NINE Wide Iron are specifically designed to straighten longer and thicker hair styles and types. Their benefits include:

  • Time-saving – Wider plates can straighten larger sections of hair at once, so you spend less time styling and more time feeling your best.
  • More effective styling – Less powerful tools can struggle to straighten thick hair effectively, but the CLOUD NINE Wide Iron evenly distributes heat to create sleek, shiny results on any hair type and thickness.
  • Less risk of damage if used properly – Wide Iron features such as Revive Mode™ and Variable Temperature Control promote healthy hairstyling. Wider plates also operate more efficiently, meaning you don’t have to repeatedly straighten the same section of hair, which can risk damage.

THE WIDE IRON’S FEATURES

Just because you’re blessed with longer, thicker hair doesn’t mean you should turn up the heat to achieve the styling results you crave.

The CLOUD NINE Wide Iron is packed with features designed to optimise your hair health and make effective, long-lasting styling possible at lower temperatures.

  • Bigger and better plates – At 1 ½ inches, it’s no surprise that the Wide Iron’s plates are wider than average, but they’re also designed to cushion the impact of styling with Spring-Flex Technology™ that prevents snagging for a smoother glide.
  • 11 heat settings – At CLOUD NINE, we believe you should always be able to tailor your styling temperature to your hair’s needs. That’s why all our tools, including the Wide Iron, come with Variable Temperature Control.
  • Frictionless styling – Activate Revive Mode™ to experience the benefits of Axial Vibration™ technology, which vibrates the plates of the Wide Iron at 8,000 times per minute to minimise exposure to direct heat, drag and friction for shiny, healthy results.
  • Mineral infusion – Lock in moisture with the Wide Iron’s sericite-infused plates. This moisturising mineral helps to distribute heat evenly, prevent moisture loss and banish frizz.

4 WIDE STRAIGHTENER STYLES FOR LONG HAIR

When it comes to hair styling, why limit yourself? The Wide Iron offers more than just straightening. Here are four styles to try out with your CLOUD NINE Wide Iron.

1. Sleek and straight

This classic look is probably at the top of your list of hairstyles to try when you get your hands on your new Wide Iron. Sleek and straight hair elevates any outfit, from a day in the office to a night on the town.

Get the sleek, straight style of your dreams with the Wide Iron, simply follow the instructions in the tutorial above. For a twist on this style, try adding a little flick to the ends of your hair. Consult this video tutorial to learn how.

2. Loose curls

The Wide Iron isn’t just for straightening. Just like a regular-sized straightening iron, with the right technique, you can also achieve gorgeous bouncy curls that could make any red carpet star green with envy.

To curl with your Wide Iron:

  1. Begin with clean, dry, detangled hair.
  2. Prepare your hair for heat styling by spritzing it with Magical Potion for advanced heat protection.
  3. Choose the right temperature for your hair using the Variable Temperature Control switch below the plates. Not sure of the perfect temperature to maintain the condition of your thick, luscious hair? Use the CLOUD NINE Temperature Calculator to find out.
  4. Switch on Revive Mode™ for damage-free curls.
  5. Starting with a small section of hair, close the plates of your Wide Iron and rotate clockwise away from your face as you glide your hair through. Alternate between clockwise and anti-clockwise rotations for each section of hair, until you achieve a full head of loose, bouncy curls.

3. Waves

A wavy look is just as simple to achieve with the Wide Iron as straight or curled hair. Simply follow all the steps outlined in the previous section, then add these finishing touches for a natural look that lasts all day:

  • Gently brush through your loose curls with the CLOUD NINE Luxury Dressing Brush to create soft waves.
  • For a sleek and glamourous waved look that wouldn’t look out of place on a red carpet, follow with a lightweight hairspray for all-day hold, then sweep your hair to the side and accessorise with a jewelled clip or comb.
  • If you prefer a casual, beachy look that’s perfect for everyday wear, finish your style off with a spritz of a lightweight, texturizing sea salt spray. This will keep your waves looking beach-fresh, without weighing them down.

4. Faux Blow-dry

WIDE HAIR STRAIGHTENERS FAQS

If you still have some questions about the Wide Iron, or using a wide hair straightener, you’ve come to the right place.

Can you curl hair with wide straighteners?

You can curl your hair with wide plate hair straighteners, but the results may look a little different than you’d get with a regular-sized hair straightener. The wider plates create a bigger, looser curl, which also looks great brushed out for a faux blow-dry or beachy wave look.

Are wide hair straighteners better?

Wide hair straighteners are better for some people. If you have long hair, thick hair, or both, they’re the perfect tool for taming it without risking high heat or over-styling, both of which can lead to damage. If, however, you have fine and/or short hair, or a fringe that requires precision styling, a straightener with smaller plates might suit you better, such as the CLOUD NINE Slim Iron.

Do wide hair straighteners damage your hair?

Like all straighteners, wide hair straighteners can damage your hair if not used correctly. However, it’s easy to avoid heat damage when using the Wide Iron. Begin your styling session with a spritz of Magical Potion for protection.

Learn the correct heat for your hair using our Temperature Calculator, then set your iron to it using Variable Temperature Control. Activate Revive Mode™ for enhanced styling at lower temperatures.
